Why is visualisation not enough for making major decisions?

Visualisation can be a powerful tool in many situations, but when it comes to complex decision-making processes, it might not be enough. Additional techniques such as creating mood boards, positive affirmations, and meditation can help, but they may still produce only partial results.

Before moving to London, I visualised and planned for months, but it was a two-week solo vacation in New York that gave me the final push.

As a European, discovering New York could have been a perfect adventure, but due to the distance, size, and culture shock, I felt overwhelmed, and anxious during the first few days. How could I want to move abroad if I already feel uncomfortable from a vacation?

Journaling during this time allowed me to reflect and identify what kind of safety anchors I would need in a foreign place, like having a yoga studio, a cosy café, and library nearby, that would help establish my daily routine. By facing and overcoming the initial discomfort and fear, I was able to start practicing this routine.

When it comes to weightier decisions, I've found that the most effective approach is simply taking the first step towards the new experience, regardless of how uncomfortable or illogical it may seem.

These initial steps often bring invaluable experience and knowledge that is necessary for living out future goals in the present. By daring to take these self-transcending steps, I've gained the confidence to start a new chapter in my life.

I know exactly that it is not easy to start this path, but in order to create a strong mental image of a future event, familiarising yourself with the energy of the situation beforehand can only benefit you.

While there are still many unknown factors, starting on the journey and taking the initial steps enables you to cope with any challenges may arise.
